December rainfall was between 78% and 226% of normal at our sites, with an average of 134%. Only four sites were below normal: North Egmont (78%), Hillsborough (97%). Egmont Village (93%) and Everett Park (98%). At the other extreme, Kaūpokonui at Manaia had 219% of normal and Duffy’s Farm, Whareroa, had 226 %. Most of the rain fell in the first half of the month, with little or no rain in the final two weeks.
Rainfall for the 2019 calendar year ranged from 73% to 124% of normal, with an average of 96%. Only eight were above normal: Dawson Falls (104%), Motunui (105%), Stratford (101%), Cape Egmont (just over 100%), Te Kiri (104%), Manaia (107%), Whareroa (124%) and Pātea (117%).
